2 Republic Days But 1 Similar Situation

A new trend has taken over the country.
You know, the Republic Day is celebrated in two ways.
One (by the Govt) with glamour and glitz. Display of military might on the Rajpath. Colorful tableaux of various states.
The second is the way of the common people. On road.
Last year, at Shaheen Bagh. Mega celebration.
This year, at Delhi's border. Tractors rally by the farmers.

Between CAA-NRC protest and farmer-bill protest, in a gap of one year. Many people were forced to take up the streets in protest. Ready to face consequences.
Today, we salute the spirit of such people. Those who demand a pleasant tomorrow for everyone.

But, the question is: Even after 70 years, why are people not happy? Misguided still?

Article 14 and 15 of our constitution may come across as odd to many. They say: The state shall not discriminate on the basis of religion, race, sex, place of birth.
But, then again, a "law" to deprive provide citizenship on the account of religion, caused much uproar.

For it had happened the first time ever in a country like India. Guwahati, Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai. Widespread protest across the country erupted.
Amid CAA-NRC protest, visuals of barbarism, disheartened all. "The police forced themselves in. Beat up many students with utmost cruelty."

No matter how hard somebody tries to divide India, this country's people will continue to strive for their principles; India's foundations. We remain united, let this be clear, once and for all.
From little children to the elderly. From students to celebrities. Everyone spoke out. Stood up.

One year ago: In January. Time: 7 PM. Place: JNU. Students merry in their hostel rooms.
But, it wasn't meant to be, as masked men (or goons) entered campus, attacked students and teachers. It was clearly a politically driven attack.

JNU, one of India's best universities. Many prominent politicians, its alumni.
What could be more shameful than an all-out attack of such nature taking place in India's most prestigious university?

Be that as it may, student unity remained intact. Because, on the very next day, students across India openly supported JNU. Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, every where, you name it.

Well, even after all this, you may say: Protests are commonplace in a democracy like India. What's the big deal?
But, in the last year, people were helpless, thanks to Govt order, when they took up the road.

Farmers protest

Now, 70 days have gone by, since the farmers gathered around the capital city.
140 martyrs in these 70 days. Thanks to biting cold, propaganda and hopelessness.
Yet, the farmers, adamant, seated determined on the borders of Delhi.
The new farm bills were proposed and passed without debate or discussion.
It was claimed that these laws would benefit the farmers' interest.
Farmers, however, refuse to believe so.
The ministers seem to think they know farming better than the farmers themselves.😂

At first, they protested in Punjab. For two whole months. No reports, though.
Then, eventually, the farmers understood: If the deaf must hear, the sound has to be very loud.
Govt and media tried their very best to convince the misguided farmers. To no avail.

Conclusion

In 2020: students, activists, lawyers, workers, farmers, everyone protested.
Perhaps, even the middle class, regular uncle-aunties, might take up the streets, one day😂.

Last year, 26 Jan, CAA protest. Today, farmer protest, despite corona. So many misguided people of our country.😂
The question is: WHY? Introspect.
